Monday September 30th 11.40am 🚀 NAP is SEA ART 4.40 Bath @ 6/1 William Hill, 11/2 Bet365 & Ladbrokes
Result - 💣 WON
The William Knight trained Sea Art had 3 runs last year as a 2 year old, gaining a mark of 67. He struggled off that mark until dropped to 63 in June at Salisbury finishing 2nd of 12 on soft ground.
The handicapper then put him up 2lbs, and he again struggled a little on his next two runs on quicker ground.
He was then well beaten over 2 miles by Blame It On Sally, but he is now 11lbs higher than that day.
He ran a respectable 6th last time out at Kempton considering he was racing very wide all the way round and conceding ground and now has a 6lb pull with the winner who is Fav today.
He looks off an appealing mark today as he has been dropped another 2lb by the handicapper and is on a career low mark of 57.
Additionally, he and the favourite both get a 7lb weight for age allowance.
Sunday September 29th 9.32am 🚀 NAP is HYDROPLANE 4.10 Espom @ 4/1 Skybet/Ladbrokes/BetVictor/PaddyPower Result - 2nd (1.7 in running)
Took five runs last year to get a handicap mark and after a blow out on first run this season (trainers not fully wound up then) he wasted no time knocking up a hat-trick (61, 67 & 73) over trips from 9.5f to 12f.
Beaten off new mark of 78 when 6/4fav 2nd/3 but no disgrace losing to El Misk and seemed too keen LTO when upped to 2miles, travelling well until 3f out and virtually last one off the bridle but not lasting home.
Off 79 today but dropped back to 12f and gets 7lb WFA and 7lb jockey allowance (ridden 4 winners & 4 places from last 19 starts).
Disappointing on only start on soft but that was first run of season when trainer was out of sorts (had gone 50 handicappers without a winner at that time) and sires offspring have fair strike rate with cut.
Saturday September 28th 8.19am 🚀 NAP is KAMEKO 1.50 Newmarket @ 5/4 Bet365, 6/5 Ladbrokes/Coral
Result 2nd (1.25 in running)
Kittens Joy colt out of a Rock Of Gibralter miler who won on debut beating a subsequent NTO winner. Surprising as trainer only 7% with debutants and clearly has an engine on him.
Next seen upped in class in the Group 3 Solario at Sandown when slightly green but staying on well having looked in trouble and in need of a mile. Finished second to Positive in a photo with Al Suhail behind in third and this solid form together with today's extra furlong can see this exciting colt land the prize.
Friday September 27th 11.39am 🚀 NAP is EARL OF HARROW 5.40 Haydock @ 5/2 Bet365, Skybet, Ladbrokes, William Hill.
Result - Meeting abandoned - NON RUNNER
The Mick Channon trained Earl of Harrow is in great form having won 3 of his last 4 races. He has won off marks of 65, 71 and 73 and although his handicap mark is now 76, a 9lb rise in the weights doesn’t seem too harsh.
He raced twice on soft ground as a two year old to no avail but these runs can be overlooked as they were non handicaps as a two year old.
He has the potential to relish the heavy ground considering he is out of a soft ground sire Sixties Icon. Sixties Icon has sired 40 winners from 261 on soft and heavy ground. Operating at an A/E of 1.32 and a 13% profit to SP.
He also has proven course form winning back here in June.
Scott McCullagh takes the ride.
Thursday September 26th 11.05am 🚀 NAP is LAND OF WINTER 6.45 Southwell @ 11/10
Result - 2nd
Bet365/Ladbrokes/BetVictor/BetFred/PaddyPower
Seven race maiden at trips from 8-12f until last week when upped to 14f and trying fibresand for the first time. Absolutely hacked up by 11 lengths but it could have been more and very well placed today as although has a 6lb penalty he is still well in as he is due to go up 11lb (to new mark of 62) from Saturday so is technically 5lb better off (57).
Looks set for another big run with Luke Morris on board receiving weight all round. Also the trainers recent runners have included winners at 7/2, 5/1 and 7/1 and places 12/1 & 16/1 from last 6 runners, the only unplaced selection was 7/1 chance 4th/10.
Wednesday September 25th 8.26am 🚀 NAP is CONVICT 1.15 Redcar @ 6/4 Ladbrokes, WHills, BetVictor, PaddyPower/Betfred.
Result - WON 💣
Half brother to Hamish (OR 98), 1m6f Heritage winner last month and a very decent debut when staying on under a glass reins after a very tardy start over 7f on good to soft. That form couldn't have worked out much better with the winner Quadrilateral hacking up again NTO (the second rated 86 and the 4th won since)
Heavily backed on second start (4/1 morning odds into 2/1) but saddle slipped early on in race and ridder losing irons after stumbling.
Derby entry may be ambitious but Danny Tudhope is booked again and should get his career back on track today.
Bentley Wood will appreciate the rain but may struggle off level weights while unraced Rulers Kingdom may need to be a bit special to beat the selection.
Tuesday 24 September 24 No 🚀 NAP selection today
Monday September 23rd 7.56am 🚀 NAP is ALMOKHTAAR 5.25 Kempton @ 4/1 Bet365/Marathon and 7/2 Ladbrokes/WHills/PaddyPower/Betfred/Betfair/Totesport and others.
By War Front costing $625,000 as a foal and $470,000 yearling and made an eye catching debut when travelling very well until 2f out over a mile on polytrack. Was no match for Humanitarian (now rated 104) late on and faded late.
Put away for the winter and returned in May strangely over a longer trip of 10f when again travelling well but dropping away looking a blatant non stayer. Winner of that race however now rated 104, second 99, third 100, 4th 99 & 5th 85 and considering he was one of last off bridle before emptying it can be considered a very good run.
His third start was on turf but much the same again, 10f, this time behind Logician. He looked to be travelling well before fading away, again looking a non stayer. His most recent effort saw him in a much weaker race on turf over a mile but yet again he went like the winner (2/1, 8/11 in run) before fading again.
Shrewdly purchased last month for just £12,000 connections have wasted no time in dropping him to 6f, back on the all weather and blinkers applied on his handicap debut. He has got a plot draw also (2/9) and off a handicap mark just 63 a repeat of either of his two all weather runs should see him land this.
91 days off the track is the only concern but trainer Kevin Ryans last seven 3 YO sprinters on the all weather back from a break he has had three winners and two seconds. He also boasts impressive stats with the blinkers on in all weather handicap sprints, 24/116 (20.7%) and an A/E of 1.21
Sunday September 22nd No 🚀 NAP selection today
Saturday September 21st 10.00am 🚀 NAP is HERITAGE 4.00 Chelmsford @ 4/1 Bet365/Unibet (7/2 most other firms)
Result - 3rd
Garswood filly who looked set to land a big field handicap at Ascot LTO but was collared close home (traded 6/4 at furlong pole). Running well and looked likely winner on both previous starts when trading short prices in run in both. Switched to sharp 5f for first go on this surface and looks well worth a go.
May lead them a merry dance here and would be hard to peg back in current form if taking to the surface.
Friday September 20th 9.31am 🚀 NAP is TABARRAK 3.55 Newbury @ Evens Bet365/PaddyPower and others
Result - WON 💣 (15p Rule 4)
Has put in two solid efforts in defeat behind Salute The Soldier trying to give it lumps of weight. Back on his favoured track and now off levels he should be hard to beat. Ultra consistent (7 wins and 7 seconds from 22 starts) and a repeat of most of his career runs should see to these comfortably with 7lb to spare on adjusted official weights.
Thursday September 19th 9.54am 🚀 NAP is HE'S A LADDIE 4.55 Chelmsford @11/10 Bet365/Unibet.
Result - 2nd
Two 5f wins at Wolverhampton over todays minimum trip before chancing his arm in Listed company.
Seemed to be struck into and swerved left leaving the stalls and then raced keen whilst getting back into contention. Easy to forgive the fact he faded back late on and now dropped into nursery company for the first time off an opening mark of 84 which looks workable.
Has also drawn stall 1 in a pacey race and a clean break this time should suffice for this Fast Company colt in the hands of Hollie Doyle who is enjoying her best season yet with 87 winners from 577 rides (15.1% S/R, A/E 1.29 and a profit to sp of £25.06 in 2019)
Wednesday September 18th 10.13am 🚀 NAP is ONE NIGHT IN MILAN 6.15 Kelso @ Evens with all firms (except Skybet 10/11 and 888sport 11/10)
Result - 2nd
Only four go to post with two dual course and distance winners heading the market. Richard Johnson's only ride is Aye Right who has been off for 159 days but his market rival may have the fitness edge after an easy win last week. Keith Dalgleish's One Night In Milan is due to go up 10lb for that but only carries a 6lb penalty so is technically 4lb well in and he can use that along with race fitness to his advantage.
Nayati and Sqouateur like to get there toe in and with a windy dry day the ground may be a little too quick for them this evening.
Brian Hughes takes the ride and his 2019 handicap hurdle figures are pleasing with 22 winners from 103 rides (21.36% S/R showing a profit to SP with an A/E of 1.28)
Tuesday September 17th 11.33am 🚀 NAP is BUHTURI 2.40 Yarmouth @ 6/4 all major firms (13/8 with Unibet, 11/8 Skybet)
Result 3rd
Decent debut when 2nd at Goodwood finishing in front of 1/3 Fav (rated 87) rival, but no match for the now 90 rated Wild Thunder. Went one better when winning on second start (2nd rated 76 and the 3rd and 4th home both winning since).
Upped into Listed class over 7f on good to soft at Ascot on third start and only 5th of 6 but travelled very well for the first 6f and the first four home are rated 103, 101, 98, 102 and the sixth now 97.
Seemed fairly treated back to 6f off 88 LTO in York nursery but far side ruled the race (first 5 home all far side) and jockey decided to briefly come over to stands side before switching back over but his chance had gone by then. He plugged on very well for 6th (best of those middle/stands) leaving the impression there would be more to come.
Back to novice company today and conceding 6lb to the field but would take a smart one to beat him and easily gets the Nap vote today.
Jockey Dane O'Neill having his best ever season in percentage terms (18.1%, 25.5% S/R non handicaps, IV 1.43) and trainer Charles Hills also on a PB of 16/1% S/R non handicap.
Monday September 16th 11.10am 🚀 NAP is IDOAPOLOGISE 2.00 Thirsk @ 9/2 Bet365,Skybet, Ladbrokes, Betfair, Paddy Power, Coral.
Result - WON 💣
James Bethell’s €42,000 yearling Idoapologise was highly tried in two class 3 races at York in his first two starts of his career. On his second run over 7f, he held his position well until close to home where he faded badly but it was not a bad run at all until that, he was disputing 2nd place a furlong out.
Last time out, when a 50/1 shot at Thirsk, he couldn’t handle the soft ground, which is not unusual considering his breeding.
He has been given a mark of 60 which looks lenient based on the only run he has on good ground and he could be slung in here.
Jockey PJ McDonald is having his best year yet, operating at a 15.1% strike rate and making the frame 39% of the time and a decent I.V of 1.32.
Sunday September 15th 8.20am 🚀 NAP is ORANGE SUIT 3.20 Bath @ 9/4
Skybet/Ladbrokes/PaddyPower/Betfair/Unibet
Result - WON 💣
Ex Richard Hannon 4 year old gelding, OR high of 82 but mark been in free fall since.
However had wind op this summer and first run back saw him run his best for a while when front running and staying on for an encouraging 2nd place despite racing a little keen.
That was off a career low 65 and off same mark today should see him extremely competitive and if settling early will be the one to beat today.
Also Marco Ghiani takes off another 7lb and he is on a strike rate of 15% (39% have made frame) in 2019, for a £1 level stake profit of £40.71.
Saturday September 14th 8.09am 🚀 NAP is ANNEXATION 3.25 Lingfield @ 5/2 Bet365 (9/4 Betfred/Skybet/BetVictor/WillHills and others)
Result - 6th
€85,000 yearling and €240,000 Arqana breeze up purchase who was unraced at two. Appeared on debut late May as a three year old, catching the eye staying on nicely. On second start he unseated rider and bolted before race but still ran very well, again looking like needing further than 6f. On his third start he was given a 'tender' ride when 4th/7 again over 6f and had clearly been set out to gain a fair mark.
Handicaper allotted him derisory mark of 64, which looked way below what he is capable of but a slow start and traffic problems left him with several lengths to make up on handicap debut on Monday. However he flew home once in the short straight, looking desperatly unlucky, making up vast amounts of ground and would surely have won easily had things not transpired against him.
Last time out he was only third but the ground went against him (soft) and the trainer blamed that for his defeat. With today's much faster ground he can get his first career win in a very uncompetitive race off just 63.
Friday September 13th 10.02am 🚀 NAP is MAYNE 4.05 Chester @ 15/8 Bet365
Result 2nd
Andrew Balding’s Mayne has a great draw here (1) and can hopefully take advantage of that today.
We’re yet to see the best of this colt but Balding’s horses tend to come on for a run or two and this could be the day Mayne gets his first win.
The favourite Two Bids seems to want quick ground and considering we should be able to get first run on it here from stall 1, the betting could very well be the wrong way round.
The 3rd in the betting Invictus Spirit will find it hard from a wide draw (6 of 6).
David Probert takes the ride.
Thursday September 12th 11.33am NAP is GRACEFUL MAGIC
Result - WON 💣 SP 5/1, BFSP 7.18
2.10 Doncaster @ 4/1 Bet365, Ladbrokes, Betfair & Paddy Power
Graceful Magic was an unlucky loser off this mark of 85 at Goodwood last week and can pounce today before she goes up 3lbs.
She’s got two decent wins at Newmarket and Sandown under her belt so far this season and has won at both 5f and 6f on good to firm ground (which it is set to be today).
She looks a very attractive price at 4/1.
Charles Bishop takes the ride.
Wednesday September 11th 08.56am NAP is MASON JAR
2.40 Uttoxeter @ Evens Betfair, PaddyPower
Result - 2nd
Mason Jar has recently made the switch from Hilary McLoughlins yard to Dr Richard Newland. This yard does amazingly well with new recruits and that should continue today.
Newland has had 42 winners from 158 switchers, operating at an 8.2% profit ROI to SP and a 26.58% strike rate.
Mason Jars form over in Ireland is more than fair and he could easily have too much for this field today.
Sam Twiston Davies is riding.
Tuesday September 10th 10.24am NAP is WOODHOUSE
2.20 Leicester @ 13/8 Bet365, William Hill
Result -4th
Sir Michael Stoute’s Woodhouse put in a promising debut at Newbury last month. Slower away than her market rivals, this Kingman filly stayed on well to finish third. She should come on a bundle for the run and looks the one to beat.
The form of her debut has also been franked with the second (Star In The Making) winning her next start at Salisbury and the fourth (Breath of Joy) finishing second next time out at Kempton, running well at odds of 12/1.
They have big hopes for Woodhouse for the future and this today should be her first win in what is hopefully a successful career.
Ryan Moore is in the saddle.
Monday September 9th 8.46am 🚀 NAP is COURT ORDER 8.30 Wolverhampton @ Evens Bet365/Unibet
Result - 7th
Lawman colt out of mare who has already thrown two fair animals with 100 & 91 RPR. Badly missed break on debut but recovered only going down 2.5 lengths to a fancied Dubawi Godolphin colt. Left the impression there was more in the locker and this race may lack the strength of his debut.
Main market rival Badessa is from a yard that only has a 7% strike rate with debutants and she may have to play second fiddle here.
Sunday September 8th 10.40am 🚀 NAP is POINTED AND SHARP 3.15 Fontwell @Evens Bet365,Skybet,Ladbrokes, William Hill
Result - WON 💣
Pointed And Sharp is a winning hurdler who ran well completing for the first time over fences in his last run, coming second at Worcester.
He’s the youngest horse in the race here and looks the pick here to take this handicap.
He’s ran well at Fontwell before producing a 4th place finish at 14/1 (off 116) and a 2nd place finish at 20/1 (off 115).
Michael Nolan takes the ride.
Saturday September 7th 10.49am 🚀 NAP is DUBAI SOUQ 3.50 Kempton @6/4 Bet365/BetVictor/Unibet
Result - 5th
First foal out of an Andre Fabre trained Street Cry mare (RPR 99, 4th in G3 over 12f) by superstar stallion Dubawi.
As breeding suggests found first two runs over 7f on the sharp side and left that form way behind him when scooting up by 3.75 lengths (8.25 back to third) at Wolverhampton when upped to 1 mile.
That is easily the best form on offer here and should be able to give weight away against these if handling the switch to polytrack from tapeta.
Trainer has a massive 44.4% strike rate in A/W nurseries (20/45) over the past decade and an incredible ROI of 64.5% to SP.
Friday September 6th 11.58am 🚀 NAP is HANDLEBARS 5.30 Musselburgh @ 11/4 Bet365/Skybet and most other firms
Result - 3rd
Decent debut when trying to give weight to two gambled on runners (both with racecourse experience) over C&D 10 days ago. Raced a little keen as this yards can do on debut but went about her work well once settled.
Should come on a bundle for that and Keith Dalgliesh has a decent record on second start runners (13/58 last two years and an a/e 1.9). Will need to improve to beat the twice raced odds on fav Yoshimi but holds a big chance with expected natural progression and Jason Hart booked to ride.
Thursday September 5th 10.25am 🚀 NAP is BRASCA 8.10 Chelmsford @ 9/4 Bet365
Result - WON 💣 SP 11/4 (BFSP 5.4)
Today’s NAP comes in the form of the Nathaniel gelding Brasca. Wanaasah will guarantee pace in the race which should hopefully suit Brasca down to the ground. He’s won his only all weather start at Chelmsford back in November 2018 over 1m2f going away from the rest of the field.
He was subsequently put away for the winter, then came back and won easily on his first start since gelding at Chepstow over 1m4f.
He was then at a career high mark of 84, and has been slightly disappointing since. However, you can put a line through his last run as it was over heavy ground, which doesn’t suit him.
This return to the all weather off a lower mark of 80 makes a lot of appeal today.
Harry Bentley takes the ride today.
Wednesday September 4rd 11.15am 🚀 NAP is BARCA 8.45 Chelmsford @ 13/8 Bet365/Betvictor
Result -3rd
Cost $900,000 as a yearling and raced for AP O'Brien before moving on to Seamus Durack. His mark dropped from 77 to 70 but he was out of sorts on his 3 runs for him at trips ranging from 8-10f.
Switched again in February this year to Marcus Tregoning who gave him a blow out over 7f before gradually upping him in trip to 9f, 11f, and 12f whilst his mark plummeted.
He won extremely well last time out (landing our NAP) and looked to have a fair bit in hand. That course and distance win should stand him in good stead for this evening and he can defy the rise in the weights.
Jim Crowley takes the ride.
Tuesday September 3rd 8.33am 🚀 NAP is Castel Angelo 5.45 Kempton @ 7/2 Bet365/888Sport.
Result 4th
Half brother to Blazing Thunder (who was sold privately after winning impressively on debut for £200,000 before getting injured) but showed only a little promise on debut himself. However left that form behind at Sandown when missing the break and being restrained early over 5f. Finished 9th/10 but not beaten that far by some nice types, staying on to the line. Surprisingly upped to 7f LTO and showed decent pace for 5f disputing the lead, racing alone on the far side before fading badly inside the last furlong.
Handicap debut and this represents a big drop in class with nothing of the calibre he has raced against so far and looks very well treated over 6f off just 58. Should go very well if handling the polytrack surface for the Henry Candy yard.
Monday September 2nd 10.37am 🚀 NAP is CULTURE 7.30 Windsor Sandown @ 6/4 Bet365, William Hill, Betvictor
Result - WON 💣
This George Baker trained Dream Ahead gelding was very impressive in his last outing at Windsor winning well over 1m2f.
The second in that race (Isle of Wolves) has subsequently landed a big gamble by winning at Epsom so the form is strong.
Jockey Cieran Fallon is claiming 5lbs and we also get a 7lb weight for age allowance.
Culture should relish this good to firm ground as that is what he won so impressively on last time.
